  ACCEO - Meeting September 23, 2002

Meetings and Comments

Dear Friends of The Alliance (ACCEO) :

I would be most pleased if you were able to attend a workshop to plan an Alliance for the California Current Ecosystem observation to be held in Portland, Oregon at the Doubletree Hotel, Portland-Lloyd Center on September 23 and 24, 2002. What has happened up until now is outlined in the minutes of two meetings: Monterey Bay and Seattle and other documents, see our web site: http://swfsc.nmfs.noaa.gov/FRD/acceo/acceo1.htm

The objectives of the Portland meeting are to present concepts for the Alliance, discuss issues, plan the structure of the Alliance, facilitate the development of pilot (proof of concept) activities, and to identify those of us willing to work to make the Alliance happen.

Our mailing list is long because many believe a Current-wide alliance for monitoring the California Current is dearly needed and wish to be kept informed. A smaller group wish to become directly involved. Those of you willing and able to come to Portland on September 23-24 and work with us to advance the goals of the Alliance, please let me know you intend to come.

It is very important to let me know that you plan on coming and if you have an Alliance concept that you would like to present; this will allow the meeting to be organized appropriately.

Acting, ACCEO Chair

John Hunter
